Thank you to Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Thangam Debbonaire, and Shadow Housing Minister for Housing, Mike Amesbury, for speaking to residents living in high rise flats across Bolton earlier today. Local residents raised concerns about the challenges of living in high rise blocks, with issues ranging from combustible cladding and broken fire alarms to messy management contacts.
Thangam, Mike and Bolton Labour Leader Nick Peel, discussed these issues with residents and supported the need for more government funding to make high rises safe for everyone, including students. Currently The Cube is not eligible for Government funding to remove cladding, because the building was purpose-built as student accommodation.
You can sign up to the campaign which calls on the Government to provide more funding to deal with fire safety issues in high risk buildings here: boltonlabour.org.uk/justice-for-gr
