Ensuring our children are able to have a well-rounded upbringing
Labour will protect budgets that provide the best support possible for ‘looked after children’ in our borough.
Statement of intent. Budgets have been protected.
We want to establish a new partnership with schools, colleges and health services to ensure that young people who are affected by mental health issues are properly supported.

We value the work of our dedicated Youth Service and will continue to support it and its efforts to improve the life chances of our young people. We will further invest in our current youth outreach programmes and seek financial support from the police and other agencies to do this. New outreach programmes will be created where there are geographical gaps.

Increase opportunities for families (including extended families) to be active together from early years.
We will establish a new support network for young children who are carers for older relatives. We will work with our partners to ensure that children are not disadvantaged by their family roles.
