We will Create Green Enterprise Loans

We will launch an interest free loans scheme for small, innovative ‘green’ business ideas, that will strengthen our local economy.

We will seek to part fund this through a new Green Deal Bond scheme. This will allow local people to invest into the Green Enterprise Initiative. There will be a guaranteed return on these investments, built into the financial profiling of the loans.

These loans will be available to micro and small developing businesses, co-operatives, voluntary groups, schools and colleges etc.

We will seek to unleash access to finance, and actively encourage green initiative schemes, for bold new environmental projects such as retrofit and insulation works, energy efficiency systems, food growing projects and recycling initiatives. In doing so we will seek to localise the Borough economy for the creation of sustainable jobs.

This is a major pledge for the future, connected with ‘keeping the Bolton Pound in Bolton’ and developing stronger links with the VCSE sector. It will require partnership between the council and external sources of funding.
