We will amend planning policy to require all development, public buildings, and retail buildings wherever possible to include community resilience measures (e.g., electric vehicle charging points).

EV charging are now planning policy.  Further updates to some planning policies to improve environmental and sustainable development aspects.

We will further review all local planning policies to ensure that, wherever possible, planning conditions should be imposed on new developments that mandate the integration of green infrastructure such as clean and efficient energy and water efficiency systems, to become carbon neutral. We aim to create a new requirement to enhance or protect the quality of our streetscape to the highest possible standards.

We intend to incorporate as much of these into our developing Local Plan.

Government have announced that all new houses must include solar roof panels.

We aim to develop assets of community value to build community resilience, such as ‘community work hubs’ in residential areas for remote working, and to enable the retrofit of multi-functional green infrastructure (e.g., air cleaning, noise reduction, improved ambience, rainfall attenuation of building greenery).

This links to our community asset plans for the future, to maximise community buildings usage, talking every opportunity to retrofit for green infrastructure, subject to available finance.

A Labour Council will work to meet the need for electric vehicle charging points in the borough, securing funding and ensuring that charge points are implemented in the right places.

We are developing a strategy for EV Charging infrastructure. Bids been submitted for funding.
