We have many natural resources within our reach, such as the reservoirs, the rivers, the sun, underground heat sources and the wind. These sources for energy production can be harnessed in a clean and affordable way for us all to benefit.

We will explore the option of generating clean and cheap energy for our residents and work with neighbouring councils to achieve economies of scale.

Successful bid to Government submitted for a district low carbon energy heating scheme using sewage water heat pumps for Bolton town centre. £11 million awarded. We are now in a feasibility phase for around a year to see if the project can be delivered with a partner organisation.

We aim to retrofit homes and other buildings across our Borough for energy conservation, as energy unused is energy saved to reduce our carbon footprint.

Council scheme in progress advising residents that they may be entitled to a replacement boiler and home energy efficiency measures such as loft insulation, draught proofing etc. This scheme is in partnership with GMCA and the NHS. Households are currently being improved with the above measures.

A Labour Council will set up a Partnership Task Force that will seek to make this aim a reality, and we will explore how local co-operatives can assist in delivery for community empowerment.

To be progressed in the future.
