Bolton Council will become a fully accredited real Living Wage employer with the Real Living Wage Foundation. (This will include pension as well as income).

We are a Living Wage employer, but not yet received accreditation.

A Labour Council when procuring and commissioning will influence contractors by making payment of the Real Living Wage a criterion in the tendering process, and proactively encourage all businesses benefiting from a council contract to become fully accredited Living Wage employers.

Ongoing commitment.

It is our stated aspiration to ensure that our most valuable asset – our workforce – receive the salary, support, training and career progression that they need to provide a quality and dedicated service to the people of Bolton, encouraging partnership organisations and major employers in Bolton to do the same.

Bolton now signed up to the GM Good Employers Charter. In all of our budgets there have been no compulsory redundancies or reduction in terms and conditions.

We will encourage all local businesses to become accredited Real Living Wage employers

Part of the Economic Growth and Resilience Plan (EGRP) is to raise the wage floor that will support achieving the real living wage across Bolton.

As an employer, Bolton Council will not use fire and rehire to reduce terms and conditions and will encourage other employers in the borough to do the same.

We will continue to honour all national collective bargaining agreements.

These are statements of intent that we do not intend to deviate from.
