In July, we celebrated the 70th birthday of our NHS – Labour’s proudest achievement.

Seventy years on, a lot has changed. We highlighted the issues facing the NHS today and why we need to defend it from being sold off.

A&Es are overstretched and overcrowded, waiting lists are increasing and there is considerable concern over further privatisation.

We asked residents and people passing by to sign a birthday card for the NHS, which was presented to hospital staff.

New Little Lever Health Centre

Despite these tough times, I have successfully lobbied Bolton Labour Council for a £1.5 million investment in Little Lever and Darcy Lever. Once complete, the new facilities at the former Tesco building will house three GP practices and increase the number of treatment and consulting rooms.
