Jon Owen

From the age of 12 I’ve been an active campaigner for social justice, passionate about improving the lives of the great people of Bolton and the townships within it.
Over the years I have been actively involved in many campaigns around mental health, tackling discrimination and fighting climate change- meeting with local and regional decision makers through various youth voice groups and representing Bolton in the UK Youth Parliament from 2018-2020.
Now I am looking to continue the fight to get local people, in particular young people, heard when it comes to the crucial decisions for our town by standing to be your councillor in Kersley. If elected I will champion Bolton Labour’s manifesto pledge to devolve decision making powers to local communities to give them the final say on the issues that will ultimately affect them the most.
After ten years of Tory austerity and local cuts that have been supported by independent councillors in the coalition, now more than ever it is crucial that our areas get the investment it needs and that we insure we invest in young people to give them a fighting change at a prosperous future
