Bolton’s Library Shortlisted for National Award – A Testament to Local Investment and Community Pride
📚 Bolton Central Library is in the running for Library of the Year!
Bolton is making national headlines as our Central Library has been shortlisted for the British Book Awards 2025 – one of the most prestigious honours a library can receive.
This recognition isn’t just about a building; it’s about our community, our investment in public services, and our commitment to giving people of all ages access to learning, culture, and opportunity.
🏛 A Library at the Heart of Bolton
Bolton Central Library has been a cornerstone of our town since 1938. Thanks to Labour-led investment, it has been transformed into a modern, thriving space that meets the needs of today’s residents.
🔹 A £4.3 million investment has delivered:
✅ A new café to make the library a welcoming place to meet and study
✅ A revamped children’s area – now one-third of the entire library, designed to inspire a love of reading
✅ Better digital access with cutting-edge facilities for all ages
✅ A brand-new mezzanine floor, creating more room for social spaces and community events
📢 Putting People First
At the heart of this transformation is you – the people of Bolton. We’ve listened to residents, parents, and young people about what they need, and we’ve delivered.
🚀 Footfall has increased.
📖 More people are borrowing books.
🎭 Events are thriving.
And this is just the beginning. The next phase will bring even more initiatives, including partnerships with mental health services and innovative early years programmes to help children develop language skills.
🌍 A Library for Everyone – A Town That’s Moving Forward
This isn’t just about books; it’s about opportunity, community, and local pride. Bolton deserves modern public spaces that work for everyone – and Labour is delivering.
As we await the award results on March 12, one thing is already clear: Bolton is being recognised as a leader, a place that invests in its people, and a town that’s ready for the future.
