Our very own Tonge with the Haulgh Councillor, Elaine Sherrington, has been elected as the Mayor of Bolton for 2018/19.

Elaine who is the Chair of Governors at Moorgate Primary School has served our Ward for the past 19 years.

During her Mayoral year, celebrations will take place to mark the end of the First World War, and also the 100th Anniversary of (some) women obtaining the vote for the first time.

The new Mayor’s charities for the year will be Bolton Lads and Girls Club, Bolton Hospice, the Young Persons Housing Scheme and Fortalice.

Elaine also plans to celebrate the history of the mill workers in Bolton who played such an important role that led to the economic growth of the town.
