At a planning meeting held at Bolton Town Hall, Cllr Shafaqat Shaikh was joined by local residents to object to house-builders plans for 234 new houses at Hulton Lane Playing Fields.
Cllr Shaikh raised concerns about the loss of this valuable piece of community land, and the effect that the new homes would have on the highways and other infrastructure.
Labour Councillors voted to refuse the planning application.
