I’m proud that as a Labour-run council we are leading the way as one of the best in the country for spending taxpayer’s money most effectively. We have further to go to ensure the burden is not shifted onto the shoulders of our residents.
Our vision for the future of every town in Bolton – from Farnworth to Westhoughton, Breightmet to Blackrod, Horwich to Kearsley – is one of growth and making the town a desirable place to live and work.
By the end of the decade Council Tax will contribute half of the council’s annual running cost, Central funding for local services will subside to near nil and a third will come from locally retained business rates.
There are some fantastic opportunities ahead of us, such as the £1bn masterplan, which will bring a significant economic boost.
