The demolition of the old Tesco store to make way for a purpose built Health Centre and Library has now begun.

Work started this week and the demolition of the old building will be complete in early September with commencement of building work in mid-September.

The development of Little Lever Health Centre and Library fits within the overall strategic plan for Bolton Council and NHS and Bolton CCG to invest in and expand medical, health and educational facilities in Little Lever.

Little Lever and Darcy Lever Councillor, David Evans, said:

“I have championed the delivery of this facility since it was first put on the table by the previous Labour Council, who allocated the funds to make this become a reality. Cllrs Greenhalgh and Hornby both signed a document in May 2019, when the coalition took over in Bolton, that this and other capital commitments from the previous Labour Council would be put on hold. I am pleased that my continuing lobbying has now led to work starting.”
