A message from Councillor Nick Peel on his re-election to serve Tonge with The Haulgh:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who cast their vote for me in May in the Council Elections. Although the Labour Party in Bolton suffered some setbacks, in this Ward we increased both the Labour vote and our majority over the opposition parties.

The Labour Council has had a rough couple of years and it is true, we have made some mistakes. I have spoken to hundreds of local residents, and one of the main issues that you raised with me was the apparent slow pace of change for Bolton town centre.

Since our last communication with you, I can now report that we are continuing to make progress on bringing in private investment into redevelopment and new jobs at the Crompton Place, Bradshawgate/Trinity Street, Bank Street area, the former bus station at Moor Lane and Cheadle Square.

Your Council is committed to transforming our town centre. It will take time, but watch this space!

Nick and Team Tonge with the Haulgh
